![]() ![]() Yes except the whole point of Umbral mods were for the specific purpose to making Umbra stand apart from Excalibur and DE's current stance says as much. The only reason excal umbra is more powerful (the stats are exactly the same) is because of the umbral forma polarities (so instead of moaning about excal prime being weaker complain about the inability to put umbral polarities on other frames) meaning we can fit them all in and still add other mods etc, if you remove the umbral mods (ignore polarity change issues) and use primed mods etc instead then it is exactly the same apart from the sentient focus. If people want to customize they should freely be able to within reason, not to protect peoples' egos.Ĭurrently Umbra comes out slightly better but perhaps Primes will get a special feature later that will make it moot and actually make the two actual sidegrades. Excalibur Umbra has the luxury of being overall better detailed than his Prime. Not to mention it is a potential problem for later Umbras that may or may not come out as great as their Prime counterpart for those that want to lean on the founder argument. I only need to bring up all the times people say "why should I gimp myself to " as to why content is what it is to understand how silly the whole argument is, and this is just a simple cosmetic issue. Since Umbra came out so close to base Excalibur functionality (ultimately the same with a sentient strip), his sentience passive slowly patched/fixed to be less detrimental (outside some Spy complaints I mean the free spamy Howls are nice, used it in the TA enough to know that much) and with Umbral Mods giving him some distinct advantages the excuse that Prime didn't "magically disappear" is sort of ironic. ![]() Honestly be able to use skins would be a good draw for keeping the default frames though I suppose most the community wouldn't see it that way. Unless you want remove the option of skins on Umbra entirely (I'd even throw the Primes in there with the same argument) it is a double standard no matter how you want to look at it. The fact Umbra can't use Prime is arbitrary because Prime is basically a base model Excal with some gold bits (honestly if it wasn't for the scarf model the opposite would also be true). Prime can use all of Excalibur's skins and Umbra can use all of Excalibur's skin (with the scarf overlay). Not that I am particularly itching to put Prime on Umbra for the same reason I don't tend to use skins on the Primes but there isn't any real logical reason as to why you can't. That is easy to say for people that do not have the option. But they can still use the thing they paid for, it's not magically disappeared now there's umbra, excal prime is just seen as separate and non interchangeable with umbra, just the way it should be imo too. ![]()
